The arrival to Barcelona and the first few days we spent in this beautiful city were nothing like all my expectations. Since we arrived, I do not feel like a fish out of water, like the typical tourist and certainly I do no feel lost as in other places I have traveled to.

Obviously, there are many different and new things, starting from the Catalan and ending in the Gothic Quarter, which is like a neighbourhood that came out of a suspense novel. It is incredible to realise that the Romans founded it (with the name Barcino) about 2,000 years ago.

Since we landed and got on the first bus with our suitcases I feel that everything is flowing, that we walk through the city as if we were rediscovering it, that at every step we take we find something that was on the map and that we were not necessarily looking for, but that we knew was going to appear at a certain time. And we are loving it. We lose ourselves conscientiously. We get lost walking and cycling, we go from one avenue to a small street that we like and another one and another one, we end up where we started, we end up at the other corner of the map, but always discovering something, enjoying ourselves.

We still could not make the paperwork, but it does not stress me, as if I had the certainty that everything will happen as we think. Because if I think in retrospect, it did happen like that. Everything occurred little by little enabling us to leave despite the setbacks: German graduated a few days before departing, I received my diploma, then we arrived in Barcelona, we stayed the first days in a hostel we booked some days prior the flight, we did some sightseeing and walked the rambla and the old town at our pace, we met Ger's cousin, Carla; I contacted my family here, we ended up staying with them and now it's time to continue rediscovering the family that I heard so much about in my childhood, the one that shaped my life, who I am today. And that fills me with hope.
